7003-009 MERIDEN block plane. These uncommon planes were covered by a series of patents by Solon Rust designed primarily for bench planes. Similar to example in PTAMPIA I, Figure 254, but no escapements on cheeks. 4-3/4" long, 1-1/4" cutter marked with Meriden and Patented. Heavily rusted with traces of japanning, the lever cap design was very fragile and almost all examples - like this one - have the palm rest broken off. A rare plane. Good- 75-150 (SCA)
