7401-148 GEORGE H. BISHOP adjustable backsaw. Patented in 1898 and 1903 by Frederick Wuest and manufactured by Bishop of Cincinnati after they relocated to Lawrenceburg, IN. Blade is clamped by a bar that allows it to be slid up or down for variable cuts, or reversed entirely to use teeth of a different pitch. This is the 14" version with faint etching, marked with second patent date and Lawrenceburg location, good applewood handle with wheatsheaf carving that is also marked "patent applied for."
