Includes handwritten letter of a Mrs. Dale Hextell explaining the invention of the hammer by a relative whose name was changed to Hexdall when he became a naturalized citizen and worked as a tinner and furnace repair man in Morris, Illinois, selling this hammer to workers in the area in the 1940s or 50s. It was patented August 12, 1952. This example is in the original box, head has wavy pattern on one side and is c-shaped on other side, and was intended for work in corners. Metal is coated in yellow paint with 10" hammer. Box itself is stained and tattered but hammer is clean. Could be user markings. Head is clean with a few rust spots on underside of claws, 10" handle has staining mostly at the top. Small casting flaw in metal on one side.
