7104-292 Lot of two DISSTON & SONS No. 14 patented backsaws. At first glance, with its blade held by a metal strap so you can adjust the depth, or flip it over to use teeth on the top, it would appear to be the Wuest?s patent as sold by Bishop, but in fact it's the 1914 Smith patent, pretty blatantly ripped off from the Wuest design. One of Disston?s least common saws. Both 12" examples but one has teeth on only one side whereas other has teeth on both sides of blade, both marked with 1/27/14 patent date with decent etches, handles have light wear and single-sided saw blade handle might be a replacement.
