7003-053 Lot of two block planes. Uncommon example of the block plane manufactured by L.L. Davis, same maker of the Davis inclinometers. See PTAMPIA I, p. 17, Figure 27d. Traces of japanning, unmarked cutter, missing the gold pinstriping as usual, small chip in corner of throat. And a WINGFIELD & ROWBOTHAM reversible block plane, similar in function to the Stanley No. 130, with the blade reversible so you can also use it as a bullnose, but instead of flipping the cutter over you have to remove and re-insert it. Japanning 60%, cutter marked HOLBORN, gold on thumb rest is 80% there. Wingfield & Rowbotham of Sheffield, a firm founded in 1751 and better known for its edge tools and cutlery. Good 45-90 (CBM382, 580)
